Walkable Urbanism. In the 1950s OakWalk’s neighborhood could satisfy most everyday needs, such as school, shopping, visiting friends, employment, and some transit. More recently, Emeryville has experienced a major transformation where industry and commerce has dominated the built environment until now. Today, OakWalk provides everything that Emeryville has to offer in this new generation of Walkable Urbanism. The car is now less dominant as OakWalk provides all of the choices of the 1950s neighborhood.
